Design Notes

The transit peptide might be "snipped" out of the protein after import into UCYN-A, much like other transit peptides. This should be taken into account when tagging proteins, so it is not advisable to add other sequences (like a his-tag for purification) downstream from it.


Source

The part is made up of motifs that come from the genome of Braarudosphaera bigelowii. Following up on proteomic analysis performed on UCYN-A and its host this year (DOI: 10.1126/science.ado8571) we found a series of motifs common to proteins imported into UCYN-A and absent from proteins that were not imported into it. The part is conformed of the most common combination of motifs.
